Steve Patzman is a retired actuary from Texas and is now a full time resident of Harwich Port, MA. Steve's turning experience started in high school with the making of a chess set. His skill lay dormant till 1992 when he started turning again. Many of Steve's early turnings were Christmas ornaments and small bowls he gave to friends.
Steve enjoys turning because of its "instant gratification" aspect - many piece can be finished in a few hours. As his skills have increased, his Christmas ornaments turned into delicate hollowed pieces of beauty. He also produces unique candle sticks, menorahs, bowls and vases.
He enjoys recycling local woods that are destined to the dump or chipper (road kill), in particular cherry and red oak and mesquite from Texas.
Steve is the current president of the Cape Cod Woodturners Club. To add to his skills he has studied for a week each under notable turners John Jordan and David Ellsworth at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts.(click on any picture to see a larger image, use your back button to return here)
