Mel Scott is an award winning artist, and founding president of the Cape Cod Woodturners. He was a leader in a movement that saw innovative bowls, vases and sculpture in the natural grains and textures of wood. The focus of his work is beautifully turned wooden vessels. Over the years he has developed a masterful skill and a feel for the wood that is central to his elegant turnings. He enjoys working with the native woods of New England as well as various exotic woods like ebony, zebrawood or rosewood. This variety adds rich textures and tones to his work.
